WELCOME TO RICHARD C. MEEHAN'S AUTHOR PAGE

"Happiness is building a world in my head that comes out the way I envisaged when translated to print."

MY NOGGIN UNIVERSE TM

Hello, my name is Richard Carl Meehan, Jr. and I'm from Spartanburg, South Carolina.  That's away down South, in other words.  However, I bet you can't hear my accent too well from where you're sitting, so I'll just have to help you out some.  Once in a while you'll read something like "Hi, y'all." I'll put the translation beside it.  In this case it means, "How are you doing.  Would you like some iced tea with sugar and lemon?"  Or, maybe I'll write, "Jus' sit on down in that char right thar an' make yersef comfterble."  These and other pleasantries mark the life of a good 'ole down to earth Southern Gentleman.  Ahem...well...at least my neck ain't too red.

PORT NOWHERE - I believe things happen for a reason. That must be why I decided to visit a writer's conference at a hometown library last year. It was hosted by another writer/science fiction editor from my area. Within three weeks, I met the rest of the science fiction anthology writers for Port Nowhere: Tales From the Edge of the Galaxy. In only four months, and a hundred hours of collaboration, we produced the book. Years worth of submission turn-downs finally paid off with my inclusion in my first science fiction novel!

JUST A MATTER OF INTERPRETATION - Bob Ingraham was a simple farmer.  He enjoyed his solitude.  He enjoyed his dog.  And he enjoyed riding Big Red to plow his land.  Unfortunately, the alien creature liked plowing too.

Weather

The weather always determines my desire to write.  If it is sunny, I get lazy.  Rainy days are absolutely the best for my favorite vocation -- writing Sci-Fi.

 Mystic Toad Press
  • This is my favorite publisher.  The folks here are nice to deal with and produce very professional artwork and books.  Their website also has lots of links on writing!
